About Katie Fitzpatrick
I feel that the name “With Woman Birth Services” describes perfectly my philosophy and my approach when it comes to serving birthing women and their families. My role as a doula is to support women and families through their journeys and to follow them along whatever path they may choose. To do so is truly the greatest honour. I will be with you through your pregnancy and birth and am on your side no matter what. I will provide you with the information you need to make informed decisions, and help you feel empowered to advocate for yourself and your baby.
My passion for all that is pregnancy and birth is incomparable to anything else; when I'm not doing birth work, I don't feel whole. I am truly honoured to be able to accompany each and every family I work with on their journey through pregnancy and childbirth, and there is nothing else I would rather do with my life.
I am a birth doula and aspiring midwife currently serving women and their families in St. John's, Newfoundland. I began attending births in the fall of 2009, and I spent almost a year of that time apprenticing under a midwife. I am in the process of completing my Bachelor of Arts in Women’s Studies at Memorial University of Newfoundland, and therefore take a limited number of clients per month.
I plan to one day support women and their families through pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period as a midwife, and am applying to the Bachelor of Midwifery program at Ryerson University for the Fall of 2012.
When I am not attending births or devouring birth books, I enjoy learning about herbal medicine, cooking, gardening and knitting. In fact, I make a knitted hat for the baby of every doula client I work with! If you are interested in seeing some of my work or placing an order, check out FitzKnits.
